With many of Queensland’s popular destinations within reach by day trip, Brisbane is a practical place to stay while exploring the region. The city is also continuing to grow and develop, with major infrastructure projects underway ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games..

Getting Around Brisbane City

50¢ Public Transport

Brisbane’s public transport network includes buses, trains, ferries and trams, making it an easy way to explore the inner city and surrounding suburbs.

One of the biggest advantages for visitors is the 50-cent flat fare, which currently applies across the Translink network in South East Queensland, regardless of distance. But airport train services are not included in the 50-cent fare.

Public transport is particularly convenient when exploring Brisbane’s inner city and riverside areas. However, if you are planning to visit several attractions further outside the city, journeys can take considerably longer and may involve transfers.

Travel Tip

You can use a contactless credit or debit card, go card or paper ticket on Translink services. Remember to tap on and tap off using the same card or device.
